Hi Guys, I'd like to thank the finnbass community for making me feel so welcome so soon and especially Steve for generously offering this forum for me.
A bit about me. I grew up in Montreal, Canada (Quebec really

) and have been a lifelong woodworker. I studied a year of carpentry and a year of cabinet making back in high school ('86-'87) and bought my first two books on guitar making back then. One shall remain nameless. The second one was Melvyn Hiscock's "Make Your Own Electric Guitar" an absolutely wonderfull book that made me dream of building. The plan was to start building right thern but life got in the way until '97 when I built a new body for a '74 strat neck I had. I was instantly hooked but again life got in the way until 2003. By that time I was living in Tha Hague, Netherlands with my beautiful Dutch wife. That year I discovered Projectguitar.com and dusted I off Melvyn's and got to work on my first scratch build. Not happy with having something simple built. I also built the neck, the pickups and finished the bass in sunburst. I learned a lot that year on how not to build a bass.
Since that time bass building has occupied all my thoughts day in and day out, much to the frustration of my wife at times

In 2005 I migrated to Brisbane, Australia where I'm based now. I started building customs for customers in 2006 and 2009 marked the start of Mailloux Basses as a "real" business with the launch of the website and the first Guitar Show I attended as a builder (and filing out all that legal stuff governements have a tendency to throw in your face).
