Hello All,

I have a couple of questions that would be great to have answered without having to do a load of dough on strings and then ruining them!

What makes of flat or half round strings will hold up to being through body strung?
I've heard LaBella's windings will seperate/pull apart over the tight break angle on the saddles you see.

Also am I right in thinking that I'd need an extra long set so that the tuner end wrapping doesn't go through the nut?

Any help and advice mucho appreciated,

Welcome Jon. I use Status Hotwire halfs and TI Jazz Flats strung through without problems. I dont use extra long strings. The TI's just go over the nut.

Thanks for the info Ferret, I'll go for some T.I.'s I think, as I've had experience of them before.

I've had Rotosound flats on my US jazz through-strung which worked well. I currently have a set on my Ovation acoustic that are also doing a good job but aren't through-strung for the obvious reason it's an acoustic.

Edit: I believe La Bella flats actually say they are not suitable for through-stringing. I have tried it and although I didn't experience any unwrapping they didn't sound very good. When top loaded they did actually sound better.

Correct. I've got a Butterscotch Blond 52 Tele Re-issue. One piece maple neck that has been tastefully "aged"

I currently have my Iceni strung with 6 month old D'addario roundwounds (strung through). It's odd, I like the sound of deadened roundwounds but hate flatwounds!

I've been using D'addario strings for about 2 years now.

I can supply the same strings for less. I carry SIT ERB sets up to 10 strings most of the time.

Also have TI flats now as well as the usual SIT strings.
